Prora Cookies
Temporary bakery inside 4KM long KDF-ruin
At invitation by host ‘Prora All Inclusive’, DUS resided a month in the ruins of the former nazi-hotel ‘Prora’. As a way to shed of its dim past, DUS built a bakery inside the building, with materials that were found on site. In the bakery cookies were being produced, depicting the building scale 1:500. The cookies, packed in special boxes, were sold to tourists. One cookie-box consisted of 8 pieces showing the entire building (4 km long).
During the month, the bakery shaped an important place within the All Inclusive community. Here all Prora-residents, artists and architects, joined and debated over freshly baked bread. After summer, the bakery closed down and the production of Prora cookies stopped. But a local baker took over, and he is selling Prora-cookies to this day.
